One of my fave - Cuba Libre

This drink could be simple and one of the most easy to prepare but for sure it must be included as one of my favourite drinks.

There are a lot of ways people prefer to prepare this, but those could be just datails, the mix is just rum, coke, some ice and a little bit of lemon. I would't like to complain about the brand of rum you should use, I have tried many of them: Bacardi, Bacarat, Captain Morgan, Havana Club, Appleton State, Flor de CaƱa, Cartavio, and also others I don't rememeber the name now or i just decided to forget them, I really like using Appleton State for this mix, Havanna Club works really good also.

I would like to share this magical mix with you all.

Origin of CHEERS!

Another interesting thing drinks has is the big amount of stories around everywhere, many countries has their own belief, also creative people start telling some new stories. Here I let you one interesting story:

Before and during World War II, an influential gathering place in Monterrey Mexico was the Foreign Club. A vigorous and flourishing British Colony was the impetus of its formation. Not nearly as large but aggressive concept were members of the American Colony. To be on the roster of the Club was coveted and deemed desirable.

The club rooms were in a shabby,a group of rooms on the second floor of a building in the area of the Cathedral downtown. Many deals were negotiated there in its comfortable, unpretentious quarters. S. Dutton Pegram of Torreon, an explosive Englishman with a bottomless capacity for Scotch, was a frequent visitor, as were the Purcells of Saltillo with numerous family branches. No informed traveler would come to Monterrey without visiting "the Club."

At that time, Mining and Minerals were a significant part of Northern Mexico. Phillip Messenger typified the Englishman that came to Mexico and achieved a comfortable lifestyle and considerable success. As is often the case, he was more "British" in Mexico than he would have been had he remained in England. At any rate, my father and he were close friends. They always had a great deal to say to, and exchange with, one another, in our offices at Laredo or at the Foreign Club.

"Mr. Messenger had been visiting our office at Laredo one morning. Because my father was out of town", he chatted with Bat, my late brother, and me. At his departure, having forgotten to do so, he called from across the room, at the top of the stairs, "Cheers to Pop!"

This epitomized to Bat and me everything that was the warm, hearty rapport between the two men, the type of relationship that we admired and envied. Almost from then on - this was about 1949 - "Cheers!" came out between the two of us and my father on more and more occasions, at different and varied events.

Over a period of time, any greeting, in any other form, seemed colorless and inadequate. Just about any situation invites "Cheers!"

This could be official origin of the expression but I also know some others meaning of this like:

-Keeping healthy after some time till meeting again
-After touching glasses as a sign of trust
-After a old ritual, pouring a little bit of the drink into the other showing there is no poison
-Cheers! because after drinking we won't be able to say it
-Because the drink will cheer you up
-To compare level in glasses
-Wishing you good health!

Cheers friends!!

Sweet Drinks! not Dreams!

Known by its important presence in any kind of celebration, it doesn't matter if it is formal ceremony, gathering with old friends, while a special dinner or having a blast in a party! People say that there is always a good reason for a drink, and I also believe that.

If you need a reason for drink I have found many:

-Sharing and spending time with friends (my favourite)
-While working to stay awake
-A important toast
-Celebrating good news
-Meeting new people (friends, collegues, clients, etc)
-Brings some courage to do or say something
-Being more confident with somebody
-To forget some problem (only works till you get recovered)
-It helps to see the world more beautiful (including girls and guys)
-Religious ceremonies

What i can say is that as long as you enjoy it and don't bother others any reason is good.
